Human Expertise and Artificial Intelligence in Legal Search
Legal search is one of the primary applications of informatics to the practice of law. The present chapter summarizes some recent thinking in this field and illustrates it in the context of a new version of Westlaw, called WestlawNext. We argue that finding the right allocation of function between person and machine continues to be the key to success in making legal documents more findable.
