This article deals with the question whether legislation as to resale rights for fine artists should be introduced. Economic and policy reasons show that works of art should not be treated differently from other market commodities. In addition, also problems related to administration/collection of royalties and conflict of laws issues lead to the conclusion that introduction of an artists` right to share in proceeds of resales should be opposed.*
