New Payment Models from China and Fight against Financial Fraud
«Asia embracing digital banking faster than anywhere else.» «China to overtake the U.S. for digital payments by 2020.» «Mobile payments such as Alipay to overtake credit cards by 2019.»
Unsurprisingly, financial fraud related to Greater China is growing at the pace of innovation: «Former Macau gangland boss enters into multimillion-dollar casino cryptocurrency deal.» «Hong Kong’s bitcoin businesses suffer after local bank accounts frozen.» «China’s bitcoin miners, wary of tighter government scrutiny, make plans to move overseas.» These are only the very last days' news. And yet, there is no criminal assistance treaty between Switzerland and China, nor with Macau. The treaty with Hong Kong dates back to 1999 (Alipay started in 2004, Bitcoin in 2009 and WeChat in 2011). Are we ready?
