Burkhard Schafer

Curriculum 

Burkhard Schafer is Director and Co-founder of the SCRIPT center for IT and IP law and Professor of Computational Legal Theory at the University of Edinburgh. He is also member of the management group of the RCUK funded CREATE research network on the future of copyright in the digital economy. He holds degrees in computer linguistics, logic and law from the Universities of Munich, Mainz and Lancaster. His main field of research is the interface between computer technology, science and the law. He has published more than 90 papers in the field of legal expert system design, the semantic web, and on regulation of new technologies.
